On November 30th, in celebration of Small Business Saturday, our North State partner 3CORE mentored and sponsored youth entrepreneurs at the micro-business marketplace in Chico in conjunction with the Downtown Chico Business Association (DCBA). This was part of an ongoing series of activities connected to their youth entrepreneurship initiative that also included mentoring youth in the Thursday night market season this past year.

“3CORE, in partnership with the DCBA and Team Chico, launched the ‘Empowering Young Entrepreneurs’ initiative to inspire and cultivate the next generation of innovators and business leaders in our community,” said Luis Moreno, Assistant Director for the agency. “We believe that empowering young entrepreneurs drives innovation, strengthens local economies, and creates long-term community resilience.”

Recognizing that many aspiring entrepreneurs face financial barriers, limited networks, and a lack of guidance, this program was designed to remove those obstacles by offering free resources, mentoring, and a dedicated space at Chico’s Thursday Night Market to sell and market their products and services.

With “Empowering Youth Entrepreneurs,” 3CORE aims to show young people that there are exciting opportunities here in their own region and, ultimately, to celebrate the small businesses that make Chico so unique and special.
