In just three years under the leadership of veterans Leo Duran and Michael C. Bogna, G.L. Bruno Construction has solidified its reputation as a company committed to excellence and community impact. But prior to taking over the business from Mr. Bruno who wanted to ensure a successful transition, they realized they needed help to transfer the important certification of Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business. They reached out to Pete Estrada with the Northern California Veterans Business Outreach Center (NorCal VBOC), Jordan Cabellero with the Monterey Bay APEX Accelerator, and Dawn Golik with the Fresno District Small Business Association.
“All the resources have been great,” said Leo, “we can’t thank everyone enough.”
Leo and Michael leveraged the resources and support provided to grow the business, including connecting with contracting opportunities that have expanded G.L. Bruno’s reach and influence in the construction industry. These opportunities have allowed the company to thrive while also enabling them to provide mentorship and employment to other veterans, ensuring they have the tools to succeed in civilian careers. They also give back to veterans in their community by providing flagpoles and installation services at no cost. This commitment was recently recognized when the company was named Veteran Business of the Year by the NorCal VBOC.
Receiving this honor is a testament to Leo and Michael’s vision and impact since taking the reins of the business. They have not only preserved the company’s legacy but also deepened its commitment to serving veterans, setting an inspiring example of how businesses can drive meaningful change in their communities.
If you are in or near Northern California, or the Central Valley, and you also want to start or see your veteran-owned business grow, visit NorCal VBOC to get started. Nor Cal VBOC helps veterans and military spouses prepare for the mission of entrepreneurship.
