Creative Solutions co-owners Gigi Mindreau-Banks and Marcy Decato were looking for ways to grow their business and considered state contracting as a path forward. They connected with the Orange County Inland Empire Small Business Development Center (OCIE SBDC) where they received support in marketing their business, navigating the contracting process, and obtaining certification. They also took part in educational workshops to strengthen their understanding of opportunities. 

The pivotal moment came when SBDC advisor Karla noticed that the company’s bidder and certification profiles did not accurately reflect their business. With her guidance, the company updated its Cal eProcure profile to better align with its capabilities. 

Within two weeks of completing the update, the business began receiving auto-generated email notifications of solicitations. And, in less than a month, they were awarded their first state contract. Since then, Creative Solutions has successfully bid on three additional contracts, including their most recent with Caltrans.
