There are many dangers in the common workplace and safety is a primary concern for employers and employees alike. The Department of Industrial Relations oversees the California Occupational Safety and Health program (Cal/OSHA) to ensure regulation requirements are met and precautions are in place to minimize the chance of workplace injury. These business safety regulations include ongoing training as an obligation an employer must fulfill.

Luckily, there are businesses like SafetyByGeorge, to provide training services to fulfill employee safety training obligations required by Cal/OSHA. Here they offer a variety of courses in a friendly and easy-to-follow format that most employees find amenable. The owner, George Walker, knew this educational training resource was a need in his rural community of Humboldt County. He was also aware this service was a need across the state.

Wanting to understand more about government contracting potential, as well as how to become a certified small business, Mr. Walker sought the assistance of the NorCal Apex accelerator. During his 1:1 advising sessions, he was guided through the contracting and procurement landscape, assisted with creating a capabilities statement, was led through registrations and completed the certification process.

Mr. Walker is now a certified California Small/Micro Business (CA SB-MB) and has since landed a government contract with the Department of Motor Vehicles. He attributes his success, both locally and statewide, to the professional advising and assistance he received at NorCal Apex.
